Jokeri Line: first light rail system in Helsinki
Jokeri Line is a 25‑kilometre orbital light rail connection linking Helsinki and Espoo in Finland’s capital region. Replacing the region’s busiest bus route, the line provides a high‑capacity, reliable public transport backbone. With the growth expectations, local authorities are seeking to meet carbon‑neutrality targets by encouraging travel by public transport.

Capacity for growth
Replacing the Helsinki region’s busiest bus route, Jokeri Line Line 15 delivers a step change in capacity along the corridor. By 2030, the line is expected to serve around 90,000 passengers on a typical workday, more than doubling previous passenger volumes. This high‑capacity light rail system provides the long‑term transport backbone needed to support continued population growth, new jobs, and urban development across Helsinki and Espoo.
